The Knightshield lineage has always been to protect the innocent. Kisara Sato was a Doman citizen in Garlean-occupied Doma. She was conscripted into the Garlean military against her will. Her childhood friend Osamu Takahashi was a man classically trained in the Doman shinobi arts and refused to submit to Garlean rule. Kisara was sent as a soldier to Ala Mhigo, to help put down the resistance, and there she met Galen. Osamu left Doma to help his friend, and with Galen and Osamu united, they were able to free Kisara from the Garlean military. Galen and Osamu became best friends while Kisara and Galen developed stronger, romantic feelings for one another. After a few years of fighting for Ala Mhigan liberation, Kisara became pregnant with Galen's child. Wanting to provide safety for his family foremost, Galen led Kisara and Osamu out of Ala Mhigo and traveled as far as he could from the conflict, arriving at the golden shores of La Noscea. There, Kisara gave birth to her and Galen's daughter, Kaiba. Sadly, the stress of childbirth resulted in Kisara's death and Kaiba would never know her mother.That did not stop Kaiba from knowing peace and happiness growing up. Galen was a kind and loving father, teaching his daughter skills such as singing, dancing, and sailing. Osamu, now going by the name Mathias, was like an uncle to Kaiba and was also very close to his best friend's daughter. Galen would tell Kaiba stories about her mother, how she helped the sick, and how much Kaiba resembled her. He would also tell her of his heritage, as one who lives by the virtues of a noble knight who protects the innocent. At a young age, Kaiba was inspired to be like the people her parents were, and carry on their legacy of helping and protecting others.When Kaiba was 10 years old, Galen and Mathias had to depart on a mission. Kaiba was not privy to the details. With a final farewell, Galen and Mathias sailed away. A week later, Mathias returned alone and gave Kaiba the news that her father had met his demise. This devastated Kaiba, and for months, she lived as a recluse, in mourning. Her world had been destroyed, first her mother and now her father. Only Mathias remained to take care of her.After giving Kaiba time to dwell on her grief, Mathias approached her with an offer. He would train Kaiba as he was trained, in the Doman shinobi arts, and he would give her all the skills necessary to slaughter those responsible for the murder of her father. The ones who had stolen all her happiness and peace from her and ruined her life. Who she would come to know as her enemies. Kaiba accepted Mathias' offer and for 10 years, she would be brutally trained and honed into an indomitable weapon.During her training, it came to light that Kaiba's ability to utilize aether was poor and Mathias speculated it may be because of the fact she was meant to be a knight as her father and the shinobi arts were foreign to her blood. Despite this, she forced herself to overcome her weaknesses and dominate them, to become a relentless machine that would never accept mediocrity. All the while, she focused on her fury and hatred for her enemies, a fire that burned inside her endlessly and from which she drew the power to press on against any obstacle set before her, and crush it despite her own shortcomings.After 10 years of training, Kaiba was prepared to begin her mission. For 6 years, she has been working to dismantle the criminal organization whose head is the one responsible for her father's murder. She will take everything from the murderer, as he took everything from her. That is her mission, and for those 6 years, it was the only way she saw forward.Eventually, things unexpectedly changed. The robotic shinobi knight began to experience friendships for the first time as others began to reach out to her and slowly whittle away the shell she used to keep others out. After opening up more to them, she developed more and more friendships, ones she feels she does not deserve and is against Mathias' wishes. She felt weak as she began to rely on others but in time saw the value and strength in having the help of her most trusted allies, her best friends.Now, she stands tall among a united group of individuals who are all dedicated to uplifting and protecting one another. And after nearly 2 decades of knowing only hatred, fury, and conviction, Kaiba now has felt love, understanding, and compassion. She tries her best for her friends to be someone better, though always struggles and falls into honed instinct when she is not careful. She still needs their support and soon, she will discover what destiny truly awaits her and what concluding her mission will mean for the rest of her life.

- Kaiba is an active member of the Adventurer's Guild, taking on jobs provided by them on a daily basis. She is notorious for primarily accepting work that is considered "small-time" adventurer work that is often overlooked.- Kaiba has been dubbed a knight of Ishgard by Count Vahn Pendragon, granting her the title of Dame Kaiba Knightshield The Shadow. She can sometimes be seen in Coerthas aiding the locals.- Kaiba has a strict daily exercise regimen every morning on the beach near Costa Del Sol and can often be seen there.- Kaiba often frequents a certain BBQ that has become somewhat popular.- Kaiba's forefathers are of small renown, known for their selfless deeds to protect the innocent above all. Her father Galen Knightshield was once a part of the Ala Mhigan resistance before eventually fleeing to La Noscea.- Kaiba's entire look and attitude cause her to "stick out like a sore thumb." People notice very quickly her peculiar way of speaking and her habit of going just about everywhere in a full suit of armor.
